Garter tossing started back in the 13th century. A bride was considered lucky and anything she touched was also considered lucky. Whoever received anything the bride touched would also become a lucky person. The tradition may actually go back long before the 13th century when guests would strip and keep pieces from the bride's gown with the hope of becoming as lucky as her. Destroying the bride's dress eventually ended in the 13th century when someone decided that the garter would be sufficient enough to pass the luck on to one fortunate individual. After all who wants to have their bridal gown destroyed

The bouquet toss has the same or similar meaning but did not become tradition until the 14th century. Some time after the 14th century it was also believed that catching the bouquet or the garter determined that the recipient would be next in line to be married. It has also been said that removal of the garter signifies that all innocence will be lost or the bride will no longer be a virgin.

The Cost of Photography Service

Whether you’re a model, an actor, an event coordinator or a couple looking for a professional wedding photographer, there is always one question on your mind: How much?

Can you put a price on lifelong wedding memories? I’d have to say no (unless you get divorced but that’s a whole other story!). The price of the photos and video might be costly but the value is much more than the cost of the photographer's time or the paper the images are printed on.

Let me re-iterate the price versus value issue. The cost of a bottle of water is typically about $1 and its value to you is a dollar because that is what it is worth to you to quench your thirst. If you are walking through the desert, you may be willing to pay a lot more for that bottle of water because its value is now much higher than the cost. How does this relate to photography? Spending a few extra dollars for a photographer who takes an outstanding photo and gets you the fantastic image of a lifetime is worth more to you than the measly cost of the gig.

You should purchase photography services (and anything else you buy) based on value not price. That thinking can change your life, I assure you.
